Astra Lighting Ltd. was established in the year 1997. It has set up state of the art facility near Chandigarh (INDIA) to manufacture high intensity discharge lamps, luminaries and energy saving lamps. The plant and machinery has been imported from Europe and the production line is one of the most advanced and considered to be one of the best in India. Equipped with modern facilities and technology. Astra Lighting manufacture High Pressure Sodium, High Pressure Mercury, High Pressure Metal Halide Lamps and also the HPSV Arc Tube. Spread over an area of 25000 sq. Feet. It has two manufacturing units with capacity of 2.0 million HID Lamps and 0.8 million HPSV Arc Tubes per annum. The manufacturing equipment being used by "ASTRA" has a cutting edge over that of existing manufacturers from the point of view of technology and process reliability. The company has also set up state of art facility for manufacturing of Compact Flourescent Lamps. The product range comprises of 2U, 3U, 4U and Spiral Energy Saving Lamps. The company employs workforce of around 200 workers and 20 engineers at different levels. The companies quality management has been duly accredited for ISO 9001-2000 CERTIFICATION by QS of Switzerland. The company products are marked which is the certification of quality issued by bureau of Indian Standards. The company has also obtained mark for its products and the products duly comply to the relevant IEC and ANSI standards. As the processing temperatures of these two glass shells are different, this setup ensure that quality of the lamp produced is consistent due to undisturbed machine setting and temperature. Astra has following advanced manufacturing machines for HID Lamp Manufacturing. - Stem machine is specially designed to control various defect and to produce consistent quality of the stems which are free from defect like pinch crack, flare crack, residual strain due to improper annealing and misalignment of components. - Sealing machine has various unique features to control defect like sealing cracks and hole, improper thread, loose cap and misalignment of mount assembly etc. - Rotary and linear exhaust machines help achieve uniform and high vacuum level which ensures long life and luminous efficiency throughout the life of the lamp. Raw material is the key to product quality, all inputs are strictly inspected before production. Testing laboratory is well equipped with modern testing equipment for lighting products. Each and every product is monitored strictly at each and every stage of production. Lamps are tested for voltage, current, glow test, aging test, lumen etc. With its consistent quality, service and price competitiveness Astra has been successful in obtaining OEM Business from leading global and Indian brands.
